Wilderness Survival in Sweden
After meeting in Stockholm, we'll drive out to the Swedish forests, where we will teach you a wide range of wilderness skills, such as...

Navigation
Getting lost is one of the leading causes of survival ordeals. With basic map and compass skills, you can stay safe while undertaking remote adventures.

Firecraft
Our oldest friend. You'll learn everything you need to know about fire- preparing the materials, using a ferro rod, basic principles, dealing with rough weather, and the art of cooking on an open fire.

Shelter
Let's stay warm and dry- at least relatively. You'll experience collecting materials, fundamental concepts, construction, and the art of deciding where you can cut corners.

Food and Water
We'll dive into the tricky world of sustenance, exploring the opportunities, the challenges, and the misconceptions. Learn to think "woodsy" and connect the dots of what's going on in the ecosystem.

And Much More...
The forest offers endless opportunity for learning.
If you're curious about a particular skill that you'd like to develop, let us know and we'd be happy to tell you if it's something we can accommodate.

Example Trip, Day 1: Navigation and Fire
After greeting at the meetup point and loading the car, we're on our way to the forest where we will spend the next 3 days. First thing upon arrival will be learning the skill of navigation and using it to reach our base camp. Along the way, we will learn about useful plants and observe animal sign. We'll then start learning about fire and cook dinner before we call it a day.

Example Itinerary for a 3-day trip.
Day 2: Shelter and Food
After waking up to the calls of birds, we'll start a fire to boil some water from the lake. After a coffee and breakfast, we'll get to work on learning how to make a natural shelter. Later, we will dive into the world of wild foods- fishing, foraging, and other sources. We will hit the water with fishing rods in hand in hopes of catching some perch and pike to cook over the fire.

Day 3: Immersion and Return
Day 3 is your opportunity to do things for yourself, and to further practice the skills that you enjoyed the most, or that you found most challenging. Spend your time gathering wild foods, fishing, deepening your knowledge of fire starting, or even just kicking back. All good things must come to an end, and we will soon need to pick up our maps and compasses and navigate back to civilization.

Your Instructor- Lucas
Lucas has always been drawn to the outdoors—especially fly fishing, wildlife tracking, foraging, and wilderness survival. From a young age, he knew he wanted to share this knowledge with others. He founded Learn the Land in 2022 to connect passionate outdoorsmen with knowledgeable guides. His approach is inviting but pragmatic— forget long-winded theory and endless 'what ifs.' Lucas believes in learning by doing, making sure you leave with skills you can actually use.
Lucas has been a NOLS-certified Wilderness First Responder since 2019 and has worked many seasons as an outdoor guide, where he has been personally responsible for the safety of his guests. When he's not working on the business, he enjoys coaching MMA, fly fishing, and spending time in the outdoors.
Testimonials
My 3-day survival course in the Swedish woods was both a challenging and fun experience where I learned practical skills with the oversight of our experienced and kind instructor, Lucas. I was quickly able to grasp foreign skills like compass navigation, fire making, and shelter building with relative ease!
It was fascinating to walk around the woods picking edible berries and fungi and looking at wolf scat or moose tracks, though the highlight for me was cooking a pike we caught in the nearby lake. It was a memorable trip full of learning and fun that brought me out of my comfort zone. I would recommend Lucas to anyone who wants to develop some new skills and have an adventure while they're at it!

This survival course in Sörmland offered a challenging but fantastic experience in which I learned basic survival skills. Lucas, the guide, is very good at breaking things down into the simple principles that are most important for your success. Through his instruction, I learned useful skills such as making a shelter, fishing for pike, starting a fire, and navigating with a map and a compass. We all got along great for the whole 3 days.
On the way in, I walked with my face into a branch when I was not paying attention and got something in my eye, but Lucas successfully flushed it out with clean water, which made me feel I was in good hands. If you are adventurous and want to challenge yourself, this course might be for you, and you will get a lot out of it.
