The North Coast of Zealand, Denmark, is a fantastic location to fly fish for sea trout as well as an assortment of seasonal species. Though challenging, the pursuit of coastal trout is highly rewarding. With our expert guides, you will learn about the tactics necessary to succeed in the pursuit of coastal fly fishing, like fly selection, understanding the weather conditions, and sea trout behavior. This experience includes transportation and fly tackle for up to 2 anglers. Waders are not provided. More info regarding transportation and schedule can be found under "schedule and rendezvous". Danish fishing license is not included and costs 45 euros for an annual license.

Please note that Andreas can guide for all of the species listed, while Cordelius only guides for sea trout and garfish. You can select your guide when booking.

Sea Trout (Salmo Trutta Trutta)

Season: Can be caught year round, though Spring and Autumn are the best times. Winter is challenging but rewarding.

Atlantic Cod (Gadus Morhua)

Season: Winter and spring are best. For summer fly fishing for cod and related species, book with us in Norway. Cod fishing regulations in Denmark are subject to change.

Garfish (Belone Belone)

Season: Spring offers extremely active fishing for garfish. An underappreciated speices that is more suitable for novice anglers!

Mackerel (Scomber scombrus)

Season: August will see swarms of mackerel arriving in Danish waters. They fight hard!

Greater Weever (Trachinus draco)

Season: Summer is full of top water action from the venomous but delicious greater weever.

Herring (Clupea harengus)

Season: In spring and autumn, you may sporadically find yourself casting into a school of herring. Very high paced fishing and a desirable fish to eat!

The default pickup arrangement is Copenhagen Airport (CPH) at 10 AM. Pickup can also be commenced from your accommodation if you book consecutive days. If needed, your guide can take you to your accommodation first to check in before heading to the fishing spots.

Guiding Schedule

Your booking includes 6 hours of official guiding per day, starting from the moment you arrive at the first fishing location. Transportation to and from your accommodation is provided and does not count against your guiding hours. Additionally, your guide may choose to pick up his rod and continue to fish with you after your booking is officially over. This schedule is very flexible and can generally be changed during your stay.

We run our fly fishing guiding services on the North Coast of the island of Zealand, Denmark. Book flights to arrive in at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) by 9:45 AM. Make sure to bring your waders! The guide will collect you from the airport at 10:00. Their contact info will be shared with you after booking.

Accommodation

Book an Airbnb accommodation in Hillerød. This location is central, making it easier for the guide to take you to different areas along the coast. If you need to check in to your Airbnb before we start fishing, the guide can take you there first.

Q: Do I need to bring my waders?

A: Yes, your wading equipment will be needed. Expect to wade on sandy and rocky bottoms.

Q: Is tipping expected?

A: There is no expectation of tipping, and you can always show appreciation by leaving us a review or referring us to other anglers! However, our guides do gratefully accept tips. All tip proceeds go to your guide!

Q: How difficult is the fishing?

A: Targeting sea trout is suitable for most intermediate/advanced fly anglers, but will likely be too challenging for a beginner. However, garfish in April are a good species for beginners! If you wish for a similar experience but are new to fly fishing, book with us for saltwater fly fishing in Norway, where you will have a beginner friendly experience with more success.
